我が家の猫の名前は「フェルマータ」です。いつもは「フェル！」と呼んでいます。
フェルマータという記号はみなさんご存知だと思いますが、一体どんな意味があるでしょう？
イタリア語で「フェルマータ」は「停止」という意味です。イタリアで昔はバス停にこの記号が記されていたと聞いていますが、今のバス停は世界標準になっているようです。
今の日本では「アイドリングストップ」ということで、バス停でもエンジンは切れますが、音楽表現としての「フェルマータ」は、人が乗り降りするのにかかる時間その場に停車する。音楽は止まっていない状態を指し、音楽に必要な時間その場にとどまる事を「フェルマータ」と言います。昔の教科書には「２倍にのばす」と書かれていましたが、今はそのような表現は無くなりました。
ルネッサンスやバロック時代の音楽には「２倍にのばす」に当てはまる場所があります。
「ブーレ」の後半に「フェルマータ」が出てきますが、ここではきっちりと２倍に伸ばしています。聞いてみてください。
